For three generations the Nicholson family has been dedicated to bringing to market quality, flavorful fruits and juices.

Apples
Red Jacket Orchards ApplesGrowing over 20 varieties of apples can make for a rather hectic September and October on the farm but we feel the extra work is worth our being able to offer a wide range of great New York apples!   In addition to some of the standard varieties (think: Empires, McIntosh, Cortland, Crispin, Red and Golden Delicious) we have been busy planting newer varieties over the past decade (like: Fuji, Gala and Honeycrisp).  In addition to looking forward, we also have not abandoned the past and have invested in special plantings of heirloom apples (The classics: Newtown Pippin, Baldwin, Golden Russet, Margil and Chestnut Crabs).  We believe that our rich, glacial till soils and unique micro climate along Seneca Lake are ideal for finishing fruit in the fall and contribute to superior flavor.

Crispy applesWhen was the last time you bought a hard, crisp, juicy flavorful apple? Here at Red Jacket Orchards, that is our specialty. Nowhere else can you get an apple that is treated as tenderly and properly, and we guarantee it! We are able to keep our apples at the highest level of quality by growing, storing, packing, and shipping them ourselves in our integrated fruit business. Special storage techniques and proper handling will give you the crispest, most flavorful apple you've ever eaten, all year long! So come by our farm store in Geneva, have our apples shipped directly to your home, or look for us in your local store and take a bite of what we have to offer...crispy apples with great flavor!

Summer Fruits

Strawberries
StrawberriesOur juicy berries are bursting with the flavor and aroma only local strawberries can acquire. The season kicks off with the classic Honeoye variety around June 12, followed by Jewels and Allstar.  Our 15 acres of fields keep the farm store well supplied as well as retailers as far south as Virginia.  The season is short, typically lasting through mid-July, so get them while they last.  If you are too late for the fresh ones you can always enjoy their delicious flavor and aromas in our Strawberry Apple Juice, which is available year round.

Raspberries
We've just added the newest premium varieties, excellent for snacking, breakfast, & desserts. As with the strawberries, the aroma and flavor of these local gems will knock your socks off! They will be available late June through mid-July.  We believe we’ve captured this outstanding seasonal flavor in our freshly pressed Raspberry Apple Juice, which is available year round.

Sweet and Tart Cherries
CherriesOver the past 10 years we have adopted new higher density growing systems that capture maximum sunlight that helps produce larger, more flavorful cherries.  Our sweet varieties (white and dark) start arriving around the 4th of July.  Tart cherry harvest is later than the sweets, around the third week in July.  One of our newest juice creations, Tart Cherry Stomp, celebrates the flavor and health benefits of tart cherries in a freshly pressed 100% fruit nectar.

Apricots
With over 30 acres of apricots, we are the largest fresh grower of these delicate delights east of the Rockies.  We’ve spent over 20 years perfecting our winter hardy varieties and have selected varieties with an emphasis on maximizing flavor and color.  Our homegrown apricots have outstanding flavor because we can fully ripen them on the tree due to our proximity to East Coast markets, which results in fruit bursting with Truly Tree RipeTM flavor and color.

ApricotsOur apricots have developed a strong and loyal customer following and have won praise from the New York Times, New York Magazine and Gourmet magazine.  The NY TIMES declared Red Jacket’s apricots, “burst with flavor… and have a rich, almost buttery flavor with nice tart edge.”  Gourmet magazine stated our apricots are, “extraordinary: fiery red and orange apricots with a rich, musky aroma and luscious, sweet-tart flesh.”

Apricot harvest starts the end of July and goes through August.  Another new juice creation is our freshly pressed Apricot Stomp, which captures the tree ripe flavor of our apricots in a 100% fruit nectar.

Peaches
A truly great peach bursts with flavor and juice when you bite into one. Only peaches left on the tree to develop sweetness & natural flavor can obtain such qualities, and that’s exactly what we do! Harvest starts around Aug. 10th and lasts until late Sept.

Plums and Fresh Prunes

PlumsWe grow over 15 varieties of Asian and European plums!  From our yellow early golden sugar plums (pictured here), which are harvested just before the apricots at the end of July, to our Autumn Sweets that aren’t ripe and ready until mid September, we have a plum that will make you say, “Mmm, mmm good” nearly all summer long.
